TAA Youth Council College and Professional Workshop

workshop2

TAA helps students and parents prepare for success in college and in the professional world.

The TAA Youth Council held their first youth development workshop at Wat Thai D.C. in Silver Spring, Maryland titled “TAA College Prep and Real World 101 Workshop”. The purpose of the workshop was to educate and empower Thai and Thai American high school students, college students, and their families about how to further their education and prepare for success in the real world.

June Jetabut, a TAA member and counselor at Rockville High School shared a broad range of information and resources focusing on the process of applying to college ranging from standardized testing, college applications, scholarships, and building relationships with school counselors.

workshop4

Tip Fallon, a TAA member and social entrepreneur held an interactive session in which the audience shared their ideas of what it takes to be successful today. The audience then learned tools to manage their time, connect with employers using their resume, and start to define what they want in life.

Both Tip and June catered to both youth and the adults by answering and translating in Thai as well.

You can find more information on Tip's organization and his book at www.speakingforchange.com
